Ne bih se baš složio da je to tako prosto,ja sam prošle godine oprao,karter,uljnu pumpu,i plastiku ibera,sve detaljno oprano,negde u martu prošle godine.Ove godine krajem januara opet zaledilo,i to na temperaturi od -5.

Hi, I recently got a "new" (well, built about September 2001, model year 2002) VW Golf mk4 1.4 16v with AXP engine and have now learned that due to some construction errors there is a significant danger of engine damage in seriously

weather (say, about -8 degrees C or below). The cause seems to be condensed water in the oil separator which is freezing and blocking the oil circuit until the oil gets ejected via the oil gauge tube, in the worst case leaving the engine to run dry. The tube leading to the oil separator already has been upgraded with a heating element provided by Volkswagen as "level one solution", but this does not seem to be enough (there are several reports of engine failures due to freezing despite the heating element which seems to not be situated in a perfect position - heating only the tube and not the separator itself which can freeze as well). VW offers another upgrade with "PCV" (part no. 036 198 999 D), however according to one of their mechanics, it is not compatible with my engine (air filter), although the motor identification code indicates compatibility. Is there anything else I can do? I intend to schedule the annual technical service intervals to the beginning of winter in order to have the oil changed (and thus hopefully condensed water removed). However I do not own a garage, have to

short distances frequently (meaning more condensed water) and it does get below -10 degrees C in winter here quite often, especially at night which seems to me to make starting the engine early in the morning quite a risk. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
