How it works:
Old software used fuel injection only during power stroke, which makes a lot of power and maximises use of fuel in efficient way, but exhausted gases are not fully burned.
In modified software car inject fuel during exhaust stroke in order to raise temperature and burn off soot and make cathalitic converter more efficient, but at cost.
Injecting fuel during exhaust stoke works agains piston and slows it down, so engine makes less power, and also consumes more fuel.
